Tel Aviv launches bike rentals

Tel Aviv last week copied a number of European cities, such as London, by launching a bike rental scheme to allow commuters to rent a bike from one point in the city to another.

On the first day of the month's trial 200 people signed-up to rent the bike, which will cost 240 shekels a year for residents of Tel Aviv and 280 shekels a year for non-residents.

There are planned to be 150 stations in Tel Aviv to pick-up or drop-off the bike, with the first 30 stations opened last Monday.
