Israel and Hungary sign aviation agreement, Israel and Italy agree to work together to improve train safety

Israel and Hungary sign aviation agreement

Israel and Hungary have signed an agreement to allow more flights between Israel and Hungary.  The agreement will allow up to 30 flights each week between the two countries.  El Al currently operates six flights a week between Ben Gurion Airport  and Budapest Airport, while Malev Hungarian Airlines operates 13 flights a week.

The agreement will also allow Israeli airlines to fly for the first time to other airports in Hungary and not only Budapest.


Israel and Italy agree to work together to improve train safety


Israel and Italy yesterday signed an agreement as part of their joint cabinet meeting in  Rome to share expertise on train safety.

Bus Subsidies will see worse roads and proposed new airlines to fly from Israel to India and China

Bus and Train Fares cut but resulting in less road improvements

The Prime Minister this week announced that the price of petrol and public transport will fall but Haaretz is now reporting that the Cabinet will be asked to vote on Sunday for the subsidy to cover lower bus and train fares to be covered by reducing the government budget for building and maintaining roads.


New flights to India and China

As tourism between Israel and the Far East increases Ynet reports that the Chinese Hainan Airline is considering introducing direct flights between Ben Gurion Airport and China.  Indian Airlines is also considering introducing direct flights to Ben Gurion Airport.  El Al is currently the only airline to offer direct flights to India and China.  Any new competition should see cheaper flights.

Cheap Airline Tickets


Globes is reporting that airline tickets from Israel to Europe and America are falling as a result of increasing competition from Arkia Airlines and other European airlines.  Arkia is currently offering flights to European destinations for $99.



Road Safety Committee 

The Knesset has this week set up a Road Safety Sub-Committee to examine a way of reducing road accidents in Israel according to the Jerusalem Post.  The Committee will be chaired by the Kadima Knesset Member Robert Tibayev.  This follows an 11% increase in road accidents in 2010.

The new committee was supported by Or Yarok the road safety organization that has run a campaign criticising the Transport Minister Israel Katz.
